Here’s a little raw, unmixed concept draft I’ve been noodling this week: a cover of '“Dream On” by the classic rock group, Aerosmith.
This is how I’m teaching myself music production — one baby step at a time, one concept draft at a time. 🫢🥹
Next up: I take this idea and build out a real version in a studio with a producer + sound engineer.
I’m learning that the key to dream-building is consistency, not perfection. These are the reps. One small step. You got this.
I’d rather show up and show out daily at 80% than not at all, sitting by the phone waiting for perfection to call. Show up to the practice consistently, and mastery will inevitably follow.

Saturday, 3/28 — let these mu’f*ckas know that WE run the show.
The revolution.
…and they said it wouldn’t be televised.
But like… just what IF the thing you’ve been brewing into became a full cup of tea — strong, real, and satisfying? But the trouble was in connecting the dots between where you were starting and where you wanted to go?
OR
You have an idea of where you want to go, but you’re feeling murky — clouded by life, perhaps, or scared, or caught up in an “I don’t know” cycle. So you just HAPPENED to take that “stupid” class, or call a new friend, or pick up a camera… why? Because why not? You’ve tried tried the other way(s) and they’re not working — they led you here.
And that’s when things change. Maybe even become a little interesting? Things definitely become a little scary when Madame Possibility enters the picture. And when you declare it into existence, it becomes the most terrifying thing of all.
“I’m going to get my degree!”
“I’m going to start my business!”
“I’m going to feel fierce every time I leave the house!”
(Sound familiar?)
But it feels good to declare, so you declare it again in a new way, you daring little devil, you. And then another way. And then another. Until the thing you’ve been declaring, dreaming into, through one small action at a time, takes it’s first steps into being.
So what IF you take another step? That’s like really insane…right? Yeah, that’s crazy….but why?
BECAUSE: what IF you have no money, or your support system at home is a bit lacking? HOW to move the needle when your job has no boundaries, or YOU have no boundaries and this “adulting” thing is not at ALL what they described? OR what if you’ve forgotten how to dream altogether— you’ve given it all away for far less than you’re worth? What if all you needed was permission…could you give it to yourself?
That’s the beauty of a dream — they can be crazy AND they can be the most real things we know. Especially, when they sit with us, haunt us, leap back to memory at the most unexpected moments. Cinderella says, “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” I couldn’t agree more. To me, dreams are like words — the spells we cast in order to make something happen. DREAMS feel like the images of the words that we, (maybe) cannot or chose not to say — to do, to share. That’s why photos don’t lie. People lie, real, unedited pictures do not — they’re worth a 1,000 words, remember?
And so it is with this photo — taken in the streets of London by Teammate/Lover/Button, designed by the fabulous folks of Little Rebel Writer Co — a mock-up of a magazine. A really pretty placeholder or foreshadowing of what’s to come? I don’t know — it’s murky…but maybe?
So what IF it worked out? And that dream gained a little traction? Whatever that looks like. And then one day (hopefully) I’ll look back at that breadcrumb trail and go,
“Deeyum. I think I’ll have that tea now.”
That’s like….
That’s crazy right?
